| | | Making your Fresh Roses Last! | | | | Everyone wants to recieve beautiful fresh cut roses. But many people are worried about them lasting only a couple days. At our store we have had customers that have kept their roses looking great for up to 3-4 weeks! Here are some helpful tips for you to have greater longevity with your roses.
Your roses need to be cut to give them a fresh end to draw water with every day, do this be removing them from your vase and filling a bowl with water, then with a very sharp knife slice off at an angle about 1/2" of the bottom of the stem, this will reveal a new fresh cut, the old cut has started to clog up and the viens in the stem can't draw water and it will die sooner. Next, Bacteria grows in the water constantly, so after you have recut your roses, you will need to wash your stems off under running water in your sink, this will remove bacteria on the stems, then put fresh water in your vase after you have washed it our and disinfected it also. You need to have fresh water in the vase every day. Applying the fresh flower food from the packet you reicieved with your flowers in the water will also dramitically help.
Now if your really serious, keeping your roses in as cool a location as possible helps alot, if you have the option keeping them in a cooler or refrigerator when they are not being viewed will prolong thier life by many days. (especially during the nights)
I hope this will help you, it really doesn't take too much work, maybe 5 minutes a day.
Roses are red violets are blue, this is a great tip from me to you!
